O’Connell’s will be returning to the regular opening hours on the 1st of September!
After a hot summer and late openings we think it’s time to get back to our normal rhythm and start opening at 16:00 as usual. BUT we also decided to open early on Saturdays, so you can all come in and watch some LIVE games and enjoy a late breakfast while doing so!

So here’s the opening hours starting from Wednesday:

The boys have one last squeeze ahead of them on Wednesday, but we are confident that a victory is almost certain over Taksi, the team at the very bottom of the league. Then it’s bye-bye Summer footy until next year. As too often happens, our team has been undermanned in several games and a few games were lost to better players, but that is not to say we haven’t also won some! The boys have been victorious in three games so far and a fourth victory is just around the corner!
So come on players and cheering squad, let’s take Taksi down on Wednesday!

Jukka Ässä will be performing LIVE for us on Friday the 10th of September.

Jukka Ässä is an assembly originated by Jukka Salminen, a musician, photographer and DJ from Tampere. His earlier work include two albums in english under the name ‘Tapes’ and he has also been playing in Samae Koskinen’s band ‘Taikabändi’, ‘Tigerbombs’, ‘Astrid Swan & The Drunk Lovers’, ‘Steel Mammoth’ and ‘Laurila’

Are changing taps are changing again and now we can wait for these beauties to hit the taps any day now…

Saku Rock at 5,3 % ABV is a fruity and refreshing lager beer from Estonia. The slightly sweet aroma is balanced by the pert hops.

St-Feuillien’Saison at 6,5 % ABV is what the Belgians call a beer of the terroir, a traditional farmhouse ale with all the rich savour of the fertile land of southern Belgium. Saison, a warm golden blonde ale, is a top-fermented classique.
Saison, the latest in a long line of top-quality St-Feuillien beers, went into production in March 2009.

Take the stage!

Our gorgeous Guinness stage is the perfect place for live bands and performers!
O’C‘s ,in cooperation with Ethnomusicology students from Tampere university, will be having a ‘Free Stage Night’ every other Thursday. The stage is open for any upcoming new artists to play a song or two, to try out their material or to do a small set. We will also have a lead artist for each time, so if you need backup on some instruments, there will also be some music pros to help you out!

After some difficulties on the suppliers part, they have finally managed to deliver some of our favourite crisps to us again. That is the British Walkers at the low cost of 1.80 €/pack (34,50g). The crisps are cooked in Sunseed Oil, which is naturally lower in saturates and the awesome flavours from Walkers that we have at the moment are Prawn Cocktail, Salt and Vinegar, Cheese and Onion and Worcester Sauce.

The Premiership started last Saturday, but you can still join O’Connells Fantasy Football League and win 5 free beer’s or cider’s at the end of the season!

The Premier League started up again on Saturday, the 14th and we have now created a Fantasy Football League for the 2010 / 2011 season for O’Connell’s customers to join. So if you enjoy your football and would like to make the season a bit more interesting and have a good laugh while doing so, join the games!

Toothpaste will be playing LIVE at O’C‘s on Friday the 20th of August!!

Toothpaste is a band from Tampere that has about 10 members, but who have never all performed at the same time! They list their influences as follows: Michael Jackson after the release of History double CD, Emma Bunton after she left Spice Girls, Genesis w. Phil Collins, Vanilla Ice after his comeback in a reality show and everything else that went wrong.
