Kitchen news

The chef has made some changes to the menu and we have a new cook in the house too!

There’s new paninis making an appearance, the salads are changing and in the snacks section mac & cheese is the new hot thing! Also there will be new new dips to choose with your meals. Just to name a few changes.

Dessert in March is Crunchy Chocolate Cake

The kitchen will be closed on two Sundays: 8th & 15th of March.

St. Patrick’s Day on Tuesday, March 17th!

The biggest party of the year is coming up on Tuesday, 17th March!
DOORS OPEN AT 14:00!

St. Patrick’s Day is the day that all the Irish, all the Irish-minded and, in general, anyone who likes to have a bit of fun gather together in THE Irish Bar in town to celebrate the favourite saint of Ireland, who got rid of all the snakes!
There will be some sweet Irish tunes live on the O’C’s stage with Band of Shysters!

There will be some great discounts on all things Irish…
In the evening we will also be celebrating with some free cake!
Traditionally the celebrations include wrapping yourself in green garments, wearing silly hats (provided by the bar as long as stock lasts), drinking anything green and a whole lot of discounted Irish draught products!! Not to mention all the other fun activities and the best company!

(no reservations)

There’s a special Paddy’s Day menu that is a bit shorter than the normal one, but no worries! There’ll be something for everyone, whether you’re starving or just a little peckish during the evening. And there will be cake too!
The special of the day is Roast Beef ( or Vegetarian Loaf) with roasted potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, stewed cabbage and gravy, 12€

Gift Vouchers and T-shirts!

Black T-Shirts with O’Connell’s logo on the back now available at the bar!

You can also buy gift vouchers to O’C’s at the bar.

A Gift voucher for O’Connell’s products is a great way to support the bar and make someone special very happy!

You can buy them also for yourself to use later or as a gift for a friend.

Reserving and Renting Space

The library room is available for reservations free of charge, if you want to hold a small meeting or party in a more secluded area. All you need to do is discuss about the reservation and /or other details in advance with the staff. There is also the possibility to pre-order food or a buffet style menu. Food related details should be discussed with our chef.
We cannot insure the availability of the premises on short notice, so make sure to reserve the space you want early enough.

For bigger events the whole of upstairs can be reserved (for a fee) or maybe even the whole bar!

Beer Flights

Take a Beer Flight with us!
4 half pints of tap beer of your choosing discounted by a total of 2€. A great deal and a cool way to try out some new taste sensations!

Also available for 1/4 pints with 1€ discount on the total.

At its core a beer flight is simply a sampling of several beers. This form of “taste presentation” is better known in winemaking, but is also used in the culinary industry, and is becoming prominent with craft brews as well.
Beer Flights are a great way to sample what’s on tap. For those who are new to the craft beer world, a flight of beer would be an excellent way to start figuring out what you like and dislike. It is also a great way to sample several beers without breaking the bank.

Live music tonight starting at 19:30!

Tony O’Connell & Markus Asunta with Eugene Chernov

Concertina player Tony O’Connell and flautist Markus Asunta met at a session hosted by Tony at Nancy Blake’s pub in Limerick 2005, playing together frequently for a year. 20 years later they team up for a Finnish-Estonian tour, joined by guitarist Eugene Chernov.
Tony O’Connell is one of the most respected concertina players in Ireland today. Born and raised in West Limerick and now based in Co. Kerry, he has been immersed in the living tradition from an early age. He won three All-Ireland titles in the Fleadh Cheoil competitions during his youth, and remarkably, secured his first senior All-Ireland title at the age of eighteen. He has since toured and recorded with Andy Morrow, Ben Lennon, Eamon O’Riordan and Brid Harper to name but a few.
Markus Asunta is a Finnish wooden flute player, singer and songwriter who has been part of the Irish traditional music community for more than twenty-five years. What began as a casual visit to Irish pub sessions in the early 2000s gradually became a way of life. His musical path has taken him to Ireland for extended stays, into the history and theology of folk music and dance during his academic studies, and into countless sessions and friendships across Europe.
They will be joined by accompanist Eugene Chernov, who is well known in the Irish traditional music scene of Finland for his wild energy and deep harmonic understanding.
