Thursday was the day when the “O’C‘s has Talent” competition came to the grand finale. The four competing acts got through their sound-checks good and quick and without any pain. There was nothing left to do but wait for their turn to hit the stage and wow the judges and the the crowd! Humanwires were up first with their post-grunge type rock. The judges were very impressed with the talent these young guys exhibited praising their originality and fresh sound. Tapio Ylinen followed the rock with his solo act of electric guitar and vocals. He took on board all the criticism he received the previous week and engaged the audience with some story-telling to pad around his finely crafted songs. His act was praised highly by the judges. Then came the out-and-out rock band Viidettä vailla Valmis. These folks brought a huge group of fans and the whole house was rocking to the beat these guys were pumping out. Again the praise from the panel especially for being able to create a really great atmosphere in O’C‘s. Finally, the hilarious Janne & Tulkki came on to do their thing… The crowd was in stitches. By far the most entertaining act the night had seen but musically it wasn’t the most challenging. Still, how would the judges feel? Well, as before, they loved it and praised their originality but wondered was this the right competition for them…

Last week, we had a tremendous semi-final with the judges bitterly divided; not on the competitors but the competition. It was such a tough call for them to make but there could only be one winner… Or could there?

Well, having seen all the acts do their thing, the judges had been blown away with the high standard that they decided to take the best band from the three rounds that hadn’t already qualified for the competition and add them to the bill for next Thursday.
